Creaform, a world-class company in 3D technology and engineering services, announced that its 3D Body Digitizers are generating valuable results for a large-scale scientific project on human morphology led by the University of Calgary. From the Capturor system to the most recent Gemini, these 3D body digitizers have delivered top-quality 3D images. Plus, they are portable and adapt to various field conditions.
The University along with two other American universities has been studying human genetics and morphology as part of a scientific project on the genetics of the human face, focusing on cleft lip and palate of thousands of Tanzanian children, as well as the study of human morphology on thousands of American children of different ethnic groups. Said Professor Benedikt Hallgrimsson, University of Calgary, “Data quality has been largely generous, allowing us to apply state-of-the-art geometric and morphometric techniques.”
These scanners are based on InSpeck technology, a company acquired by Creaform in January 2010. Studies of this sort, where body digitizing is needed, become an area where Creaform’s recently acquired technology excels.
