1 GJ is equivalent to how much mmscfd? 1 GJ is equivalent to how much standard meter cube?

1 GJ is equivalent to how much mmscfd? 1 GJ is equivalent to how much standard meter cube?

An MMSCFD [1] is on Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day of gas. It is the equivalent 1180 Sm^3/h. This is the flow rate of the gas.

To find the total energy you are talking about you need to define gas in question.

LPG [2] (liquefied petroleum gas) has an energy content of 94 MJ/m3. So 1GJ would be 10.6m^3.

Natural Gas [3] has a lower energy content of 38 MJ/m^3. So 1GJ would require 26.3 m^3.

GJ (gigajoule) is a unit of energy. [1]
mmscfd (million standard cubic feet per day) is a volumetric flow rate used to measure gas. [2]

You cannot directly convert from one to the other, but you can calculate a volume of gas equivalent to a given amount of energy.

In response to your previous question, John Hayes provides a conversion factor of 0.04003726 GJ per cubic meter of natural gas. [3]

This number is based on the calorific value for natural gas. You may find slightly different values (and I’m not sure what John’s calculation was based on) but engineeringtoolbox.com provides a table containing the calorific values of various gases [4].

So using 0.04003726 GJ per cubic meter of natural gas, if you convert cubic meters to million standard cubic feet, you will have the amount of energy available from a million standard cubic feet of natural gas.
