School Information:
The college offers a four-year undergraduate program in engineering, emphasizing engineering fundamentals in the first two years, followed by two years of specialized instruction in one of the 15 majors, with 18 semester hours of social science and humanities throughout each program. Emphasis is on engineering analysis, synthesis, computer-aided engineering, and hands-on lab experience. Each engineering department has its own faculty, courses, fields of specialization, and curriculum requirements. Average number of years required to actually complete the bachelor's degree: 4.3 years. The Grainger Engineering Library Information Center, which opened in 1994, is a state-of-the-art facility with 350,000 bound volumes, 2,800 journals and conference proceedings, and 1,200 electronic journals.
