Job Description:

Summary 
Responsible for providing technical engineering support to all aspects of the business unit including, but not limited to, manufacturing, production, quality, purchasing, sales and marketing for current products. Responsible for the technical content of new product development/application projects from quotation through customer start-up. This position will be supporting the Power Generation side of the business. The gensets will be powered with FME supplied diesel engines or engines purchased from other diesel engine suppliers. The position will need to technically support many different engine configurations. 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Determine the technical approach and solutions to meet customer specifications with guidance from Engineering Managers or Project Lead Engineer
  • Responsible for all technical aspects of the assigned product/project
  • Provide information and guidance to Design/Drafting group to complete all required drawings and responsibility for approval
  • Responsible for the development, release, and maintenance of internal product/project documents (BOM's and item masters) on assigned projects or product components
  • Responsible for customer submittals and deliverables (i.e. - analytical reports, test procedures/reports, system schematics, etc.)
  • Work closely with program management and other project team members, including providing and managing engineering timelines and updates for all involved engineering groups
  • Assist Manufacturing with disposition of NCRs (Non Conformance Reports), design changes, assembly issues, etc.
  • Assist QA, Manufacturing, and Purchasing in determining root cause to quality problems and new supplier qualification. Develop solutions to identified problems
  • Assist Technical Support with existing installations and programs
  • Assist in preparation of proposals for new engine sales or upgrade kits
  • Redesign and implementation of replacement components due to parts obsolescence, cost reduction efforts, upgraded design, etc.
  • Conduct failure investigations and write reports
  • Provide guidance and support to engineers with less experience
  • Perform funded Engineering studies and write reports

Required Skills
Qualifications and Educational Requirements 
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent degree. An advanced engineering degree is a plus.
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience working in a manufacturing organization that produces highly engineered capital equipment in commercial power, marine and industrial applications
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience and thorough understanding of manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Strong background in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y-14.5
  • Knowledgeable with materials, material specifications, properties and heat treatment, etc.
  • Familiarity with Codes written by ASME, ASTM, AWS, ABS, etc.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Project. Experience with Oracle preferred
  • Occasional travel is required
  • Must be a U.S Citizen
