Methanex is currently seeking a qualified Operations Shift Supervisor to join the team in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, you will provide leadership, training and technical troubleshooting guidance to a crew of up to nine operators to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site’s industrial methanol manufacturing plant.  You will also monitor plant operations and plant equipment, drawing on your comprehensive knowledge of operator duties and responsibilities in all areas of the plant, to facilitate the achievement of optimal production within safe operating limits.

To qualify, you will have a have a Second Class Power Engineering Certification. A post-secondary Diploma in Power Engineering Technology is also preferred.

The successful candidate will demonstrate at least ten years of operations experience within a petrochemical or other industrial plant setting, complimented with five years of supervisory experience, including coaching and mentoring team members, completing performance appraisals, and supporting training, development and career planning activities. 

Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude is essential for success in this role, as is demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and internet-based applications. 

This role is well suited to a strong troubleshooter with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. With a strong focus on safety and efficiency, you will be adept to working a 12-hour, rotating, day/night schedule.
