Job Description:

Architectural Testing Engineer/Manager in our Manassas, Virginia, office. The successful candidate will be tasked with performing laboratory and field testing of architectural systems including, but not limited to, windows, doors, curtainwalls, storefronts, skylights, masonry, metal and composite panels, exterior cladding systems, roofing and waterproofing systems, and other components of the building envelope.  The candidate will also be responsible for the development and operation of WDP’s in-house Architectural Testing laboratory including, but not limited to, calibration of laboratory equipment, training of field technicians, maintaining accreditation status of the laboratory, and performing in-house testing for certification of architectural systems.    The candidate will support staff members of WDP’s Special Consulting Division in the evaluation, investigation, and design of unique repairs for existing buildings that have experienced either architectural failures or leakage. 
In addition, the candidate will be tasked with client and business development for the performance of field and laboratory architectural testing as well as engaging in industry standard development, committee participation, and evaluation of emerging technology in the architectural testing industry. It should be noted that the position will require the candidate to perform field work on active construction sites (to include working from heights) as well as some travel for the purposes of forensic evaluation of architectural systems and the support of investigative or field testing services.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural, Civil, or Construction Engineering with previous architectural testing experience preferred
  • Professional Engineering Licensure or EIT certification (with expectation of future licensure)
  • Ability to lead architectural testing activities in the laboratory and field investigations
  • Ability to train technicians and maintain certification/accreditation of the laboratory
  • Ability to work in the field and to travel depending on job assignment and work load
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history
