Rotary Piston Engine

This design places the crankshaft exterior of the pistons. This allows for more power from each stroke and to achieve more strokes per revolution in a smaller package. A comparable 4 cylinder 2 stroke engine will produce 4 strokes per revolution. This 3 cylinder engine is much smaller and will produce 12 strokes per revolution. This was drawn with 6 inch cylinders & 22 inch diameter. The throws are about 10 inches. The free floating pistons will allow them to be held out of the way when not needed. This eliminates some of the friction and has better control over fuel consumption.
