MIT's Seaswarm Robots Could Clean Up a Gulf-Sized Spill in a Month

The Seaswarm devices comprise of a group of autonomous, solar-powered robots. Each of these robots has a thin nanomaterial which absorbs oil but not water. According to the researchers, the material can take on up to 20 times the robot's weight in oil, making it more efficient clean up device than the oil skimmers used traditionally.
