Everyone is collaborating already on unstructured tasks, and they are likely bypassing the systems you may have in place. Your development processes will be better off if you enable unstructured processes with social tools.

Applying social technology to unstructured product development tasks like collaboration is really hard, because collaboration is naturally organic. While social technology holds promise in many areas where the processes are well defined, the toolsets and processes are not yet ready to apply to unstructured tasks.
