Summary: The individual performs continuous improvement activities under the QS/TS system requirements, maintains quality engineering programs, documentation, and standards, and has responsibility for process controls and feedback systems in a high volume assembly/manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: Facilitate cross-functional failure mode root cause investigations, corrective actions, and containments. Perform audits and assessments of production areas for compliance to standards, coordinate improvements and drive corrective actions to completion. Drive continuous improvement teams and activities to improve product yields, reduce scrap, and increase product reliability and customer satisfaction. Advance standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation of products, including disposition of discrepant material. Assist in direction of personnel engaged in measuring and testing products and tabulating data concerning product or process quality and reliability.
Interface with customers as necessary on quality related issues. Assure data availability and integrity for all quality related data, reporting of metrics for SPC, audit results, etc. Develop, apply, revise, and maintain quality standards for incoming materials and production subassemblies through to partially finished or finished products. Perform Measurement System Analysis, design and implement methods for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or production equipment.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited university or equivalent experience plus five years related work experience in a high-volume, manufacturing environment. Automotive background required. Certified Quality Engineer through ASQ a plus. Strong working knowledge of 8D, FMEA, SPC, MSA, ESD, QS9000, ISO 9001:2000 and/or TS16949. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be proficient using MS Office applications such as Outlook, Project, Excel, Minitab, Access and Word.
