Position Summary:
The Lead Analyst – Energy Buyer performs Day Ahead and real-time energy purchases and sales, generator bidding/dispatch and load scheduling. Major roles & responsibilities include:
· Supports the purchase of wholesale electricity for NYSEG and RG&E, which meets customer requirements in a least cost and reliable manner. This includes physical transactions and financial hedging activities.
· Tracks weather conditions and generator availability to determine the Companies financial position and load/generation bidding strategies.
· Maintains and verifies records of all transactions and usage related to electric purchases and sales.
· Accurately forecast NYSEG and RG&E load and scheduling the requirements with the NYISO.
· Execute external transactions with New England and PJM


Qualifications:
Candidates should possess an Associates Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Sciences (BS Degree preferred) plus a minimum of two (2) years of experience in wholesale commodity acquisition and supply. Knowledge/experience in these areas desirable: natural gas/electric capacity, transport, ISO, ISO MIS, PJM, ISONE. Knowledge of financial analysis & spreadsheets, the ability to work independently, and the ability to make precise decisions is crucial to long term success in this role.

Shift work / Rotating shifts required.
