The ideal candidate is a senior mechanical engineer who is positive, energetic and results oriented, with a degree/certification in CAD Design and/or an Engineering related field. Absolutely must be a high level analytical and creative problem solver! EXPERIENCE/EXPERTISE • Background in electromechanical design and manufacturing of small devices and packaging of electrical/electronic products. These products must be able to cope with rough handling, adverse temperatures, EMI environments, and high vibration. • Experience in mechanical drafting and documentation standards utilizing CAD (Autodesk Inventor preferred). Knowledge of both solid part and surface modeling, iParts and iFeatures, 2D and 3D Sketching, Geometric Constraints, etc. Experience in Autodesk Inventor: Tube and Pipe, Wire Harness, and Sheet Metal. • Expertise in Finite Element Analysis (thermal, stress and vibration) of mechanical structures and assemblies • Ability to design and detail electromechanical parts and assemblies for fabrication utilizing in-house resources and outside vendors for prototype to low volume production quantities from concept thru complete detail drawings. Part design includes flat and formed sheet metal parts, simple and complex machined parts (in aluminum and plastics), and molded parts (including mold design) in cast rubber, plastics, fiberglass, and composite materials. Capable of specifying and/or designing miniaturized drivetrain designs including small motors, gearheads, clutches, etc. • Familiar with the operation and capabilities of model shop equipment (including mill, lathe, band saw, CNC, etc.) • Strong communications skills (verbal and written) with an ability to work independently and in a highly collaborative environment. • Highly adaptive with an ability to organize, coordinate, and execute on details. RESPONSIBILITIES • Design of mechanical packaging of company built hardware • Generation and maintenance of all Mechanical Engineering drawings • Raw material specification and ordering • Solicit and evaluate quotes from manufacturing/plating vendors. • Select vendors, provide appropriate documentation and co-ordinate scheduling for all out-of-house manufacturing • Proficient in AutoCad • Familiar with the operation and capabilities of model shop equipment including mill, lathe, band saw, CNC, etc. • Stress analysis of all mechanical structures and assemblies • Specification of motors, gearheads, clutches, etc. for drive train designs • Select materials and design molds and fixtures • Preparation of written reports and project documentation • Specification of resource requirements • Maintain and follow policies, procedures and quality standards ***** POSITION IS LOCAL TO BALTIMORE / DC METRO AREA ***** We offer a dynamic, challenging work environment, competitive compensation, development and learning opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package including a stock purchase plan and matching 401(k).
