Engineering Consulting Firm is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Quality Control Manager to assist building owners and design teams in developing structures according to sound, sustainable principles to operate as they are intended and minimize environmental impacts.
Qualified candidates will have: Required Experience: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology or a technically related field is required, • Minimum Fifteen years experience in technical fields related to building systems design and/or operations after completion of initial college degree. • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) • Four or more years of experience supervising, managing or mentoring others. • Ability to operate independently to plan, develop, coordinate and direct a number of large projects and provide leadership in technical teams on field investigations as well as design or analytical studies. • Ability to develop and implement quality management strategy and plans, including standards, resources, systems, schedules, budgets, and billing to support, contribute to, and integrate within company strategic plan. • Develop and maintain systems to establish standards relating to services. • Develop and maintain systems to measure performance against established standards. • Monitor and inform/communicate/apply standards created/maintained by external bodies, and integrate within internal quality management systems. • Plan and manage departmental activities in accordance with agreed budgets and schedules. • Report as necessary on changes in standards (internally and externally initiated) and on performance against standards. • Ability to monitor performance of technical staff according to agreed standards and take necessary action to communicate/advise/assist according to performance levels. • Ability to mentor others and verify the quality of each individuals work once completed. • Perform Annual Technical Staff Reviews and develop with each staff member a Personal Improvement Plan. • An understanding of and an appreciation for building engineering principals related to energy efficiency, the environment and sustainability is essential. • Strong written and oral communication skills • Possess openness to new ideas, processes and procedures. • Ability to establish and implement necessary communication strategy for the improvement and awareness of quality issues across all departments. • Strategic planning and resourceful problem solving abilities • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. • MS Excel, Word, Lotus Notes and Power Point proficiency Preferred Experience: • Master’s degree • Sustainable Design Consulting and LEED™ certification • LEED® accredited professional or knowledge and willingness to obtain accreditation • Application of Holistic Building Commissioning™ • Energy and Daylight Modeling • Forensic Building Investigation • Retro-commissioning and Preventive Maintenance • Energy Audits • Measurement & Verification • TAB and/or AEEE certifications
