This opportunity is with a large manufacturer and will be responsible for leading the design and development of new products. This position has responsibility over the design, quality, investment, and cost of the new product. Duties include: ò Manage technical design aspects of a project from inception through production launch; ò Apply best design practices to ensure successful product introduction and product life cycle adhering to compliance and company standards, engineering and product line specifications, and obsession for exceeding the customer and consumerÆs expectations; ò Proficiency in specifying materials for design optimization, strong understanding of manufacturing processes and capabilities; ò Accountability in leading root cause analysis and resolution to design and process related issues; ò Effective leadership and communication methods- written, verbal, leading cross function meetings and associated activities.
ò 3+ years of experience in engineering and project management; ò Working knowledge of mechanical structure design, manufacturing processes and quality system tools; ò Proficient with new project development tools: design concept generation and decision making, DFMEA, Design reviews, prototype building and evaluation, design of experiments, tolerance analysis, process capability, design verification, milestone schedule management, and line trial activities; ò Strong understanding of engineering principles, developing mechanical methods, and interpreting test data; ò DFMA principals, CATIA v5, MS Office applications, Lotus Notes; ò Experience with polyurethane foam assemblies, design for NVH, and large scale plastic injection and thermoform molding highly desired.
