|My client, a provider of heating & air conditioning, fire protection and green solution services is currently looking for a Design Engineer for an immediate full-time position.
The Design Engineer is responsible for generating and managing detailed fire protection system layouts and designs, shop drawings, calculations and product submittal documents from Sales/Estimating through Construction complying with NFPA standards, building codes, and safety regulations. The Senior Design Engineer should be proficient in each of the following responsibilities.
ò Design automatic fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, foam, and fire pumps).
ò Compile and prepare plan submittals and material submittals for review by architects, engineers, clients, and authorities having jurisdiction.
ò Coordinate sprinkler design with existing structure and other subcontractors via 3D/BIM modeling.
ò Communicate with Sales, Estimating and other departments to optimize design efficiency for fabrication and installation of systems.
ò Perform hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems.
ò Detail the design for fabrication and prepare installation drawings.
ò Prepare ôas-builtö drawings for in-house archive and client files.
ò Review project updates for change orders.
ò Prepare stock lists and material requisitions.
ò Perform field surveys for initial drawing layout as well as follow-up for accuracy and coordination.
ò Participate in internal and external coordination and progress meetings.
ò Other job duties as assigned.

ò Thorough understanding of general construction methods, practices, and terminology.
ò Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
ò Strong knowledge of project management principles, with demonstrated ability to manage a large and diverse number of projects.

ò Superior organizational and time management skills
ò Strong knowledge of local and national fire and building codes & government regulations
ò BachelorÆs degree in ME, CE, CM, or FPE and/or ten (10) years of experience in fire protection design with demonstrated competency in project management
ò NICET certification
ò Knowledge of and fluency within AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and/or AutoSPRINK design platforms.
ò Proficiency in 3D Modeling
