Description
The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in Wireless/Wi-Fi maintenance and support with a particular focus in troubleshooting large-scale environments. The primary responsibilities of this position are inspecting, installing, supporting, and maintaining a carrier-grade Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Wireless LAN (WLAN) including, but not limited to: RIUs, Fiber Optic RF Transports, RFNs, BIU, Access points, communication links, & LAN/WAN Switches. Additionally, this position will assist in supporting and maintaining Base Station Hotels (BSH), which will include basic inspection, troubleshooting, monitoring, and vendor coordination.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

òPerforms required incidental and preventative maintenance on DAS and Wi-Fi equipment for high availability infrastructure
òPerform diagnostic testing, system backups and recovery of all operational devices as needed
òProvide continuous 24x7 support and monitoring of DAS & Wi-Fi nodes
òDocument, track, log, and monitor network related problems to ensure a timely resolution
òAnalyze network and recommend upgrades/changes to procedures and policies for continuous improvement
òAssist in administration, maintenance, development and implementation of policies and procedures for ensuring the security, integrity and availability of systems
òProvide basic coordination of scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on BSH environmental and security systems
òWorks with contractors on existing site reports to ensure work is performed within engineering specifications

Education:

B.S. in RF related field or relevant experience. Wireless/RF/Wi-Fi certifications and training preferred, but not required. Anritsu, iBwave RF-vu, Fluke AirMagnet experience or certification preferred, but not required. BTS and Protocol training and certification preferred, but not required

Relevant Work Experience:
ò 2 - 5 years of experience in RF design / maintenance required
ò 2 - 5 years of experience in Wi-Fi preferred
ò Experience with Wireless Service Providers, technical and business requirements
ò 2 - 5 years of experience in design, operation, and maintenance of wireless communication networks

Skills (Technical or General):

*Efficient use of Microsoft Office products

*Familiarity with RF/Wireless communication systems

*Basic understanding Wi-Fi communication protocols and encryption such as 802.11 b/g/n, MIMO, TKIP, AES, WEP, WPA

*Strong organizational skills

*Works independently with minimum supervision or assistance

*Must be willing to work day, evening, or night hours; emergency calls, weekends, and holidays if required.

*Work in underground New York City subway environment

*Move and/or lifts material weighing up to a maximum of 60 pounds
