Job Description:

THE DESIGN GROUP ENERGY DIVISION in concert with our established client is currently seeking an EXPERIENCED Static Equipment Engineer to join their Team.
Position Summary:The Engineer GÇô (Static Equipment) is responsible for ensuring that all equipment and systems in his/her area of expertise are purchased tested installed and operated in accordance with the applicable standards, and with the understanding that safety and Static Equipment are of prime importance. In order to achieve this he/she is required to liaise closely with both the equipment vendors and the engineering contractors through all phases of the project.
Responsibilities:-+ Ensure Standards and specifications are followed by the Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contractor.
-+ Ensure project technical and documentation requirements are met within the silo.
-+ Ensure that all aspects of the constructability program are carried within the silo.
-+ Participate in technical audits on vendors and the silo EPC as required.
-+ Monitor the turnaround of documents for review/approval and audit those issues to ensure that they have been resolved in a timely manner.
-+ Develop, as required, various engineering-oriented plans and procedures to enable the Silo EPC contractor to properly comply with project requirements.
-+ Participate in the specification and procurement of all major equipment in the discipline within the silo.
-+ Ensure that the silo EPC contractor fulfills all of the requirements. This is to satisfy warranty, design, and operational guarantees.
-+ Witness factory acceptance tests for discipline specific equipment as required.
-+ Participate in engineering reviews as identified in the project procedures.
-+ Be closely involved in the construction inspection process to ensure that equipment is installed correctly, with no re-work.
-+ Participate in the commissioning of equipment to ensure all equipment support systems are in place and operate correctly, and that equipment is installed in accordance with the Piping and Instrument Drawing (P&IDs).
-+ Provide support during the start-up of equipment to ensure equipment is operated properly and within their operating ranges, and to assist with the resolution of any issues that may arise during that time.
-+ Provide technical support for technical deviation/ clarification, review, assessment and approval as required.
-+ Ensure that the discipline records are kept up-to-date and that equipment data is properly filed.
-+ Maintain all discipline standards and procedures.
-+ Conduct annual staff reviews for reporting staff.

Requirements:-+ Minimum Bachelor Degree in Engineering. Registered Professional Engineer in the province of Alberta.
-+ 10 years engineering experience, preferably in the oil refining business.
-+ Have experience with all types of (Static Equipment) equipment utilized in a bitumen refinery.
-+ Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and data accuracy.
-+ Strong time management skills coupled with the ability to work independently and in an organized manner is considered an asset.
-+ Demonstrates good judgment in problem solving and timely decision-making.
-+ Must be a team player: willing to continuously and proactively collaborate, share, and seek information and guidance.
-+ Must have strong investigative skills and an ability to ask questions to draw out required information.
-+ Must be able to draw on deep and broad experience of each of detailed engineering, construction, and procurement in order to prevent and solve project issues.
