The Lakewood, Colorado office of Golder Associates, Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Geochemist to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will manage and support geochemistry-related projects and proposal efforts primarily centered in mining environments. Responsibilities include:
Providing support and direction to all project phases ranging from initial proposal to subsequent field, laboratory and office tasks
Data collection such as field sampling and laboratory testing
Data analysis including geochemical modeling of water-rock systems
Projects typically involve permitting, baseline studies, operational support, and reclamation/remediation for the mining, oil and gas, power and solid waste industries
The successful candidate will be demonstrate a passion for geochemistry, possess critical thinking and problem solving skills, be committed to producing technically excellent work in a client-driven environment and have the following preferred qualifications:
Masters Degree in Geochemistry, Hydrogeology, or a related field, ideally with a strong quantitative background and mining-related emphasis.
Strong academic knowledge of surface and subsurface chemical hydrogeology.
Ability to coordinate and execute field programs using proper sampling techniques.
Experience with industry-standard geochemical modeling codes (GWB, PHREEQC) and related data manipulation tools (Excel, Access, Python). Goldsim experience helpful.
Strong relational skills within the team environment and with clients are essential.
Good technical writing skills required.
Willingness to travel to domestic and international project locations.
The candidate must be eligible to work permanently in the United States, possess a valid driver's license, and pass a pre-employment physical (including drug screening) and criminal background check.
Helpful, but not required:
One to three years relevant experience conducting and assessing geochemistry projects
Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish
Familiarity with guidance used for mine waste characterization and mine water quality prediction (e.g., MEND, GARD Guide).
