Scope of the Position:
This position is responsible for providing customer service, support, and engineering for in-building wireless voice and wireless LAN systems. He/She will need to provide professional on/off-site support for activation and troubleshooting of in-building wireless systems as well as provide remote telephone support for customers. The successful candidate will become a subject matter expert for all technical issues related to the Corning Mobile Access Product Family.
ò Direct experience commissioning and troubleshooting Distributed Antenna Systems
ò A demonstrated ability to learn new products and/or technologies in a dynamic fast paced environment.
ò Background in Wireless/Mobility/Cellular networks and Networking/Internetworking devices, protocols, and operating systems.
ò Understanding of Cellular technology and trends.
ò Understanding of 802.11 Wi-Fi technology and trends.
ò A technical understanding of networking protocols and security mechanisms.
ò Understanding of carrier network architectures used today to deliver data/voice/video services.
ò Ability to manage relationships with and communicate effectively with technical stakeholders
ò Provide remote and on-site support to customers about the technical details of the Corning Mobile Access product line
ò Create and/or execute acceptance test plans for new installations and upgrades.
ò Troubleshoot, diagnose, resolve, reproduce and report software and hardware problems with equipment.
ò Technical documentation for troubleshooting results (root cause, software, etc.) through Case Management and Quality Management systems
Travel requirements: This position requires extensive travel up to 60% to customer locations around the country.
Location requirements are: This position can be based in Vienna, VA or Chicago, IL (metro area).
ò Technical BS required û Engineering, Telecommunications or related technical field
ò MS in telecom or equivalent desired.
ò Required Years and Area of Experience:
ò 2 years direct experience turning up and troubleshooting active Distributed Antenna Systems
ò Experience with telecommunications test equipment û specifically RF spectrum analyzers, sources and WLAN test software.
ò Wireless Networks
ò Troubleshooting Networks
ò Spectrum Analyzer, Test Equipment
ò Networking (TCP/IP, SNMP, Firewall)
ò TEMS / JDSU or similar measurement equipment
ò Actix Post Processing Software
ò Netcool, Openview or other NMS Platform
ò Fiber Testing and Troubleshooting
ò Strong Communication Skills û both written and verbal
ò Ability to work Independently and in a team environment
