Determines methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. Applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis within a discipline. This level of Engineer is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of current engineering theories and practices. Serves as a technical consultant in area of specialty for management or as a client representative. A professional registration and a minimum of 15 years in a supervisory position is required. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.
The applicant will be responsible to supervise the civil engineering calculations on Infrastructure work including foundations, retaining walls, design of storm water drainage, sanitary drains, earthworks, geometric design of roadways. Manage the production of civil plans and details. Produce specifications and design calculations.
Supervises a group of Engineers and design personnel, in one discipline or multi-disciplines, by directing technical engineering assignments and coordinating project staffing assignments. Education and experience over several years must be sufficient in order for the incumbent to serve as a Supervising Project Engineer on a large project or several smaller projects.
Reviews work produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed and quality is acceptable. Monitors productivity and technical proficiency of assigned personnel.
Makes staffing assignments and reassignments as project needs arise. Conducts performance evaluations, takes corrective action as necessary, recommends promotions and salary actions, and recommends training and development for assigned personnel.
Helps to define discipline design organization and participation on a project, including scope of work, design criteria, schedules, standards, and procedures.
Determines budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
Supervises the production of project drawings and design calculations.
Promotes technical excellence on the project, Ensures that discipline design work is coordinated with project staff and Engineers from other disciplines by maintaining clear and frequent communications.
Advises engineering and project management regarding any problem areas, staffing requirements, delays in production, scope changes, or other events which could effect project completion and/or profitability.
Initiates and/or reviews change order requests for additions, deletions, or changes to the original scope of work.
Ensures that adequate checking is performed in accordance with discipline checking policy and procedures.
Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
Recommends design methods, equipment use, etc., for discipline standards.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Bs or MS degree and 15-20 years of related work experience, including supervisory experience.
Professional Engineer registration with active membership in a professional society is required.
Proficiency in utilizing PC and various computer engineering applications software is required.
Ability to perform as a job leader on large projects is required. Familiarity with ACI,
AASHTO, ASTM, NFPA,PIP and API standards and specifications. Computer literate, knowledge of INROARDS, HECRAS , MS Word and Excel is a plus . Willingness to travel overseas to job locations during design and constrution phases of the projects. Prepare specifications, plans and detail engineering work, attend meetings with Client and Managers.
