POSITION DESCRIPTION: One of the leading Northern Wisconsin architecture firms, Bailey Edward, is looking for a responsive engineer to become a part of a collaborative, high-energy studio where professional growth and client satisfaction are emphasized. The successful candidate must have an entrepreneurial passion and desire to create an Engineering Department to service architects on six existing small to medium-sized retainer projects, and manage outside engineering consultants on large projects. The Engineering Manager will provide leadership and a broad range of mechanical engineering expertise and technical support to all divisions of Bailey Edward in support of their production, quality and business goals. This includes mechanical design of equipment and systems, production of construction documents, development and review of potential projects, and management of engineering consultants during major project implementation. In addition, the Engineering Manager will provide a high level of influence and technical leadership through business development, mentoring, leading task forces, and answering technical requests. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: ò Assistance in developing a business plan that maximizes the new Engineering Department for Bailey Edward. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for implementing the business plan. ò Provide overall direction, training, guidance and supervision to the officeÆs engineers and designers. ò Estimate, assign and schedule resources for the Engineering Department on a project execution or proposal basis. ò Perform normal and complex aspects of mechanical engineering by applying industry codes and standards to mechanical work performed. Demonstrate creativity, foresight and maturity in engineering judgment. ò Plan, schedule and conduct work requiring decisive, goals-oriented judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. ò Interface with clients, consultants and suppliers to maintain and expand Bailey EdwardÆs reputation for responsive, creative and professional building solutions. ò Provide business development leadership and support to meet the overall goals established by the firm. ò Perform quality assurance reviews and approve mechanical calculations and equipment/material specifications of internal and external mechanical drawings. ò Support the small to medium-sized mechanical engineering needs of all Bailey Edward offices. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: ò BachelorÆs Degree in Engineering at minimum. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: ò Professional registration in the State of Wisconsin required. Licensure in other Midwest states a plus. ò A minimum of 15 years of general engineering experience with a minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical building systems and energy conservation for government, commercial & institutional facilities. ò Specific, relevant experience in the analysis, equipment needs selection, layout, design and specifications for mechanical systems. ò Successful experience preparing and submitting engineering deliverables such as, mechanical system feasibility studies, mechanical equipment sizing and system sizing calculations, material take-offs and cost estimates, mechanical layout and detail drawings, mechanical system descriptions and specifications, equipment and load lists, and 3-D modeling (REVIT). ò Demonstrated experience leading a teamÆs engineering design efforts from concept through project closeout while successfully developing and meeting engineering and budget workload estimates. REQUIRED SPECIAL SKILLS: ò Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point). ò Strong interpersonal skills including excellent oral and written communication skills. ò Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with accurate attention to detail. ò Demonstrated experience providing sustainable solutions for engineering challenges as indicated by LEED certified projects or other recognizable criteria.
