The Fluid/Thermal System (Secondary Air/Fuel/Oil) Specialist Engineer performs detailed fluid flow and fluid heat management analyses of gas turbine engines, components, and subsystems. Reviews analysis progress with supervision before release; Reports status to supervision regularly; Coordinates work with interfacing design and project engineers; The Fluid/Thermal System Specialist Engineer role includes planning, monitoring, inspection of instrumented hardware (pre and post-test), data reduction, and model validation ; Prepares and delivers flow/thermal analysis results in formal and informal design reviews; Provides direction in diagnosis of fluid system related engine and/or component problems; Identifies and/or develops new and better approaches to the fluid/thermal system process and guides and assists junior engineers.

Key Accountabilities:

Performs a leadership role in providing timely cooling, lube, and fuel system design and validation testing recommendations and reports analysis results and recommendations through technical data reports (TDRs) and inter-office memoranda (IOMs)
This position ensures upstream information (cycles and interstage data) requests are timely and appropriate; Provides flow, pressure and temperature results to users in a timely and clear manner and provides leadership in thermal and flow system related engine tests
May serve as a team lead or individual contributor

An ideal candidate will need good command of the English language for communication in both written and oral presentations. Must be motivated to accept responsibility and accomplish results for the customer.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering with emphasis in fluid mechanics, heat transfer and heat management
5 years of experience with gas turbine engine operation (or similar) focused on fluid/thermal systems
US Citizenship required


Master's degree in engineering and 3 years of experience with emphasis in fluid mechanics, heat transfer and/or thermal management systems
Knowledge of heat exchanger analysis and design experience
Experience in secondary air system, fuel system and/or lubrication system modeling, analysis of component test data and experience with lubrication system component design
Experience with the fluid network modeling tool, SPAN or similar 1-D fluid analysis package
Have a high level of understanding of advanced analytical tools for fluid system network and thermal modeling
Have a high level of analytical ability to deal with challenging engineering problems and to solve them
Strong interpersonal and communication skills suitable for a team environment
