Electrical Layout Engineer
Major Accountabilities
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary project team under the direction of a project manager.
Layout experience in grounding, lighting, tray, cable schedules
Provide engineering services of a high standard as well as state-of-the-art technical know-how for all phases of a project.
Investigate and exploit latest proven technologies in the mining and metals industry to enhance project results.
Be able to understand and accomplish the following:Electrical (LV, MV) design
Familiarity with various electrical products and applications
Design of systems requiring control, instrumentation, PLC / HMI and industrial network communications
Familiarity with various automation products and applications (Rockwell, Modicon, Siemens,etc)
Familiarity with integration of third party electrical (i.e. Variable speed drives, power metering equipment) and control applications for interface to the overall control system infrastructure
Required Qualifications and Experiences
Education level required:
University Graduate or equivalent
Specific experience:
Project engineering and design; In-depth knowledge of mining and metals industries
In-depth knowledge of the application of NEC (CEC) regulations
Acquired knowledge of the application of relevant IEC and ISA standards related to control systems and communications protocols
P&ID, control loops, functional logic specifications, schematics
Proficient with MS Office products, AutoCAD, E-Plan or equivalent
Ability to champion and develop automating the work process for electrical and automation deliverables (schematics, interconnection and panel drawings, P&IDs and associated instrument, I/O, load lists) using engineering tools (E-Plan, ElecDes or equivalent electrical engineering design applications)
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
