The Department of Engineering Physics at the Air Force Institute of Technology is seeking highly motivated civilian students for their Nuclear Engineering MS and PhD degree programs. US citizenship is required. Tuition assistance available.
To be academically eligible, candidates must have a BS or MS in nuclear engineering or closely related field of study, and will preferably have experience/education in one of the following areas: nuclear weapon effects, the nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear weapons proliferation, and the history, strategy, and policy of nuclear weapons in the United States.
AFIT's MS program is typically 18-21 months; the PhD program (after completion of MS degree) is normally 36 months. The department also has active programs in high-energy lasers, atmospheric physics, solid-state physics, and remote sensing/image analysis.
Research: support and interact with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and MS students in radiation detection and analysis; operate equipment and support modeling efforts for research; provide input for analysis; assist with set up of laboratory equipment and establish instrumentation for key equipment and methods for analysis; model interaction processess and assist students with specific equipment use.
