Student Final Projects

Submitted By
Maury Middleton (Thomas Nelson Community College)

Project Description:
These are student final projects from our CADD courses

Submission Notes:
I do want to say that the uniqueness of the Planetary Gear System is the incorporation of Knowledgeware. The entire gear is built from formulas. Once the first gear is made, I can simply change the number of teeth parameters and it automatically updates to a new part. Even the face of the teeth is created with formulas to establish an involute curve. These features can not be seen in the 3Dxml model. Also, the USS Monitor Engine was mostly built by students, however the drawings we got from the Mariners Museum were very difficult to read, so it really took a lot of explaining on my part. I would usually create a rough part for them and then allow them to fill in the details and dimensions. In some cases, the student could not see the work and I created those parts myself.

Associated Files
Monitor Engine.3DXML (3.2 MB)
Planetary Gear System.3DXML (310kb)

NOTE: To view any of the 3DXML files, you will need to install Dassault Systemes' 3D XML Viewer
