Check out their website (www.ecobee.com).

This smart thermostat system built like an iPod will soon be available for homebuyers and contractors in early 2009.  The programed 7day designed thermostat allows homeowners to conserve energy and save money.  This device allows you to connect to your network, and through WiFi connectivity you are able to controll the temperature of your household through the internet.  Not only is it a thermostat but it allows you to see forcasts from weather stations, and it even gives you email alerts!

Re: Ecobee Smart Thermostat System

I would say that this yet another miracle from the advent of science and technology. The main factor is that it can consume only less energy. Energy saving is the need of the hour. Also it uses the technology to control all its working. But we must also be specific on any hazards any if possible. We should always keep it away from children. The weather forecasting is a good option. According to the weather we may set the temperature that we need and can control it.

Re: Ecobee Smart Thermostat System

I think Ecobee's thermostat does have a good chance of succeeding in the market. But as Engadget says, priced a $385 it isn't exactly cheap. I guess when the popularity increases, the prices may come down as well. It sure is worth taking a shot at though.

Re: Ecobee Smart Thermostat System

Only you would consider a thermostat a toy. What did your parents not love you as a child? Go get some GI Joe dolls you freaking engineer.

I had a GI Joe doll as a kid but he got stuck in the cave and got chased out by the big brown monster!!!

I did not think engineers would be so cruel towards others, if indeed they are engineers to begin with. I would have expected comments up above to be submitted by third and fourth grade kids that haven't learned how to be nice yet. The thermostat idea is valid but high priced. However, depending upon what you would like to access remotely could justify the cost perhaps.

Re: Ecobee Smart Thermostat System

I know that some people would consider things they work on as a toy but of course they are big boy toys. I have to agree that some of the comments are a bit childish and probably people that have nothing better to do with their time. I think that staying on topic here is the important thing.

I think that making peoples lives easier and building new things is important and this smart thermostat just might be what I need to add to my new house, along with all the solar and other things I am going to add.
