As the building industry moves into BIM the demands on the drafting department increases. No longer can dimensions me cheated in, they need to be correct & as a result cad files become models rather than simply drawings. A virtual version of the building exists long before the physical allowing a much better

This year, there is less patience for development of talent. Companies are looking for individuals that are professionally-ready, so be in that category. Ask tough questions on how the firm is managing through the recession, what are their competitors doing that keeps them up at night, etc -- don't grovel for points, its easy to see a mile away.

Pressures build, weak spots are found, eruptions come about and all life is threatened, yet the question still remains. Can technology intervene to ease these pressures before they become life threatening major events? Perhaps we are still outclassed by Mother Earth's power. Let us train our future scientists with knowledge and tools while they are still in middle school.

A reader sends me his architectural dream house done with SolidWorks. Kind of hard to use for this type of creation with no furniture libraries or pre-designed tools for walls, door, windows and the rest of it. But this gentlemen going to a city college is determined to use a program he loves for the dream of his and his wife's. You have to love it.
