For those of you who saw the earnings announcement yesterday (and for those who didn’t) I want to comment on my comment that we published.

In the press release I stated “"During the third quarter the Company extended its advertising reach by establishing partnerships with other engineering publishers.  The growth in this network, along with the organic growth in the Company's own web traffic, has increased the number of advertising impressions that the Company has available for sale by a factor of approximately 10 times at the end of the quarter as compared to the same period one year ago.

What this means is that during Q3 we struck some excellent partnerships with other leading engineering web site publishers that focus on forums, jobs and general content.  One of the key points of these partnerships is that we extend the advertising we sell onto their sites so that they make more money than they otherwise would.  And it’s good for our advertisers too, because they like to consolidate their purchases through fewer portals and they appreciate our reporting and trafficking (Trafficking?  Sounds like we are dealing, doesn’t it?).

What we are only announcing in bits and pieces, however, is the other types of partnerships that we are making that will extend our content to other sites.  These partnerships, such as the extension of our jobs board onto efunda.com (http://www.engineering.com/Jobs/eFunda_Jobs.aspx ) are intended to benefit our site visitors by giving you access to a broader community in which to participate.  There are more of these partnership announcements coming, and each of them should make your experience at ENGINEERING.com a little richer.

As always, please post your notes below or contact me at jhayes@engineering.com.

Re: 10 X growth?

I just informed a young lady mathematician and engineer to go to this web site for job opportuniities. She said she would. I have publicised this web site to many technically trained people that I have had the pleasure in meeting with. This site is gaining a great reputation for reaching out for ways in helping others during this world recessionary crisis. This too will pass. We are behind you Mr. Hayes.

Re: 10 X growth?

Growth in a network by ten times in a quarter of the current year compared to the same period of the previous year is highly encouraging. Side by side it is a good news that this site has been prepared capable in rendering services in favor of the engineers who seem to find themselves in a miserable condition in the present period of recession. Mr. Hayes, you have done a good for all of us.
