I recently purchased SnagIT 9, not because I needed to replace 8 but because I purchased a new computer, lost my originial license key, etc. Anyway, the new UI is great and easy to use. For taking quick screen shots of CAD models, adding a few markups I find nothing is easier and more economical. There's a ton of output formats. The only thing that bothers me a little is all the toolbars it wants to install...IE, Office, etc. They can be a pain but are easily disabled. As well, there is a coupon (it worked about a week ago when I bought it) to save $10. They raised the price on this version to $49 but only $39. The coupon is SNUG.
Hope this helps....

Re: SnagIT 9 for CAD screen shots

I've looked at Snagit. But found MWSnap to be very good at screen captures. And it's free. No toolbars either.
