Our slogan says we’re building the engineer’s ultimate resource tool.  With that in mind, we’ve recruited some talented people, launched a great web platform and then followed up with a series of ho-hum services and web applications.  In an effort to do better, I’m asking for your input through this blog.

The idea for the blog is I’ll tell you what we’re thinking of doing and you can tell me why it’s a good/bad/terrible idea.  Suggestions for improvements are always welcome.  You can email me at jhayes@engineering.com if you don’t want to post your comments publicly.

The first thing we’re trying to figure out is who you are.  Hopefully, if we know that, we can make better choices about what you might want to see or do on the site.  We’ve noticed that relatively few of you register for the site compared to the number of visitors, and fewer still actually fill out any meaningful information about yourselves.  I wouldn’t either.  We have yet to give you anything awesome in return.

Our next attempt to give you something that you might want is an @engineering.com email account.  I have one and it works pretty well.  It identifies me immediately as a member of the engineering community, which is a credible thing to be.  And I got my own name rather than johnnyh991@gmail.com.

That’s enough for this post.  Let me know what you think of the @engineering.com email idea.  We’re going to do it anyway since we’ve come this far, but I’ll be interested to hear your views as to whether you think it will work.

Thx

John
