Future of the mechanical CAD industry…
Most if not all designers, engineers and machinists have had the frustration of having to deal with the major mechanical C.A.D. software makers, in regards to receiving any kind of help regarding training and technical support. The unfortunate attitude of the competitors is “we have their money, now the client is on their own…” Alibre Design sought from the outset to end this abusive attitude towards their purchasers. The Richardson Texas based company has been expanding enormously over the past several years, with its powerful and easy to use application, and growing numbers of engineers and designers are taking note. We would only surmise that Alibre’s competitors would follow suit with this laudable practice, but as yet they have not. All the better for Alibre. With a cost that is only a small fraction of the bigger name brands, that holds 80% of the muscle, the combination is truly unbeatable. Logic and common sense would demand that the big CAD guys that have been around for so long would pick up on Alibre’s good business ethic, but such forward thinking is sadly lacking within certain circles. The fact that they offer a completely free version of Alibre Design, along with a 30 day money back policy, speaks volumes on what the management’s vision for the future of the industry is. Digital Prismatics of Montreal was indeed in a fortunate position to be awarded the contract of reselling Alibre Design. The third such reseller in Canada, and the first and currently only reseller in the predominately French speaking province of Quebec. Given the fact that approximately two thirds of manufacturing companies in Quebec are small to medium sized companies, the potential for growth of Alibre Design in eastern Canada is substantial.
