I had tried many different types of work and hours in the
engineering / fitting field to make enough to have " a bit left over ".
Never happened. Travel and living away costs eat all the "big money", and you end up with burn out.
I knew I had to develop some sort of leverage, and a good patent had the potential.
Now, they say necessity is the mother of invention, and this still holds true.
However, my necessity was income, the "Problem that needs solving" was searched for after I decided to invent !
From there, I put all the criteria for a successful invention into a format, and
"discovered " what my invention should be.
I came up with a wheelie-bin opener that outshone anything on the market, and patented it.
It took 10 years!
Dad has been gone for 7.
Still, I am proud of it, and maybe soon, I will make some income from it !
Most inventors make a small fortune by starting with a big one.

Re: Invention No1
Whether your dad is still around or not, I am sure that he would be proud of you simply for the fact that you have followed through with your idea. You are finally making it a reality and that does not mean that you cannot finish what you promised him you would do.
