Hello All, I am currently working on a Marine bulkheading project and have a question regarding the submerged density of the soils at my site. I am receiving blow counts of 4 or greater in sandy soils in groundwater. I have received information from a couple of manufactures who state that the submerged soil density is approximately 35pcf. That being said, ever table in every text book or online resource I have looked in have stated that the saturated density for sandy soils is appx. 120pcf with a submerged density of 60pcf. Since these submerged densities are drastically different it significantly impacts my design. Please let me know if the 60+/- seems accurate or the lower end of the spectrum 35+/-. Thanks! |
