    Do you know who manufactured the valve?

    Without seeing the valve it is hard to know. It could be a date code. I could me some sort of specification or part number code.

    Where is this information on the valve?

    How is it imprinted on the valve?

    Update - I did some searching.

    I am not 100% sure but cf8 appears to be a Chinese standard for Stainless steel either 304 or 316.

    see - http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/ss3...valve.html

    The 80 may indicate the DN size of DN80, but that is only a guess resulting from the website above.

    The most likely meaning is:

    80 = DN80, i.e., a port-hole diameter of 80mm (i.e., a 3" valve)

    CF8: this is an abbreviation of ASTM A351 CF8, which is a cast stainless steel specification.
