I have always had keen interest in Astrophysics and now i am going to take up a career in engineering most probably Mechanical Engineering.

I want to know if the topics that i will be studying in Mechanical Engineering can help me undertake the study of Astrophysics At The Personal level or not ? Does mechanical engineering deal with Physics At higher level or not?

If no then which will be the ideal branch for me?
I do not want to be an astronaut But only want to unravel the mysteries of the universe.

Thanks for your guidance in advance.

    Ash:

All engineering fields are more involved with classical Physics and not those specific areas of Physic involved with the Physics of the very large. You should explore this with a professor in the field.

That is one way to do it.

Mechanical Engineer could be is a good career. You can even start out studying that and move over to astrophysics at a later time. Most of the class in the first year or two of college will be compatible with either degree.
