A shop sells apples at $1 each. Each of these apples are wrapped in a special wrapper. You can trade 3 of these wrappers for 1 apple.
If you have $15, how many apples can you get altogether?

For the $15.00 you will get 15 apples,

For the 15 wrappers you will get an additional five apples

Then you trade in 3 of the wrappers for one more apple, leaving you with two wrappers.

Now you have three wrappers and you can trade them in for one final apple and you will have one wrapper left

Total Apples received - 22 apples and have one wrapper in hand for the next time you can purchase apples.
