I'm looking for a basic engineering directional term diagram (transverse, logitudinal, lateral etc...). Having a hard time finding one online (most are related to human anatomy). Anyone have a good resource for this?

    Thank you

The terms as used on the human body will generally be correct for machines and devices.

Transverse in essentially left to right across the object width of the object.

Longitudinal is along the long direction

Lateral is away from the center line.

    Proximal is close

    Distal is away.
