Hi, I am a civil engineering student and have received an assignment about measuring quantities and setting up of a bill of quantities for an portal frame project. I have no experience of this and hoping maybe someone could help me.

I have managed with most items but I don't know how to measure the quantities of the base plates at the concrete bases, the end plates where the columns; rafters; haunches are bolted as well as the stiffening plates. Must it be detailed in the bill as a number of? Or must it also be given in kg?
