I want to build a steel roller using 4140.

Length of steel roller is 48"

Roller supported in pillow block on each end with cast iron bushing.

I want to roll a maximum weight of 176,000 lbs / 80 metric tons including my 20% factor over the roller.

What diameter of solid round bar should I use?

What wall thickness of cast iron should I use to make the bushing?

What width should the bushing be?

Please help me with any of the 3 questions or all of them.

    Best Regards

    Robin Beasse
