    Mixing 2 streams:

    Stream 1: 65% HCl @ T = 50 C at mdot = 10,000 lb/hr.

    Stream 2: 5% HCl @ T = 50 C at mdot = ?

Stream 3 (exit stream) needs to be 50% HCl. I dont have a enthalpy diagram. I need to calculate the temperature change of this reaction. I just need 50% acid so the flowrate of stream 2 wont matter as long as I achieve this. I need to also figure out how to calculate enthalpy. Can I use specific heat data to do this? Any help would be great

p.s. HCl is really not the acid I'm interested in. Just used it as an example. I'm looking more for the process of how to work this out. My energy balance is m1H1 + m2H2 = m3H3 + Q.

    Solve the mass balance: 10000x0.65 + S2x0.05 = (10000 +S2)x0.50

Then, refer to http://www.see.ed.ac.uk/~jwp/Confer...l/hcl.html for a water/hcl enthalpy diagram.
