I am not an engineer. I have not played assassin's creed. I have seen the trailers for them, so I'll go with that. For a hidden blade, you need the blade(1), the extrusion mechanism(2), the retraction mechanism(3), the catch mechanism(4), the release trigger(5), and the reinforcement(6). Design: The blade(1) has it's haft drilled out to make room for a small steel tube(6) to slide inside; the steel tube is connected to a cartridge of compressed CO2 or N2 gas(2); the other end of the tube is connected to the canister of gas via a spring-loaded turn-valve attached to the hand with a piece of cording(5); small flares at the base of the blade catch against a static hoop of metal(4); the blade may be retracted manually by releasing the pressure from the tube via a nub valve(3) at the base of the tube and pushing the tip of the blade against any other object to slide it back in place. This design is simplified by having no automatic retraction mechanism(3), a simplified catch mechanism(4), and by combining the extrusion mechanism(2) and reinforcement(6) into a single, depletable, replaceable natural mechanism. |
