    Hi All,

I wanted to know what would be the capacity of the radiant heater in a poultry house. The sketch I have attach.

If you could give me a detailed calculation with explanation I would appreciate.

    Thanks,

    Uriquil:

The diagram you have provided is not really readable.

To size the heaters you need to do an energy balance equation. Which would evaluate

    1. All the losses to the environment. This includes hot air which is pumped through building at a rate of 30,800 SCFM which will be heated from the minimum ambient temperature to the final temperature.
    2. All the sources of heat including the chickens and the radiant heaters.

I suspect that you can simplify the problem and yield a good estimate by determining the size of the heaters necessary to heat the air and not worry about the other loses. Those loses would be compensated by chickens in the building.
