I have an application where I'd like a 6"W 20"H and 24" L rectangular propane tank, actually to fit in the wheel well of a pickup truck next to an attached camper. I have been told this is not possible, they're all cylinders for a reason. WHAT is that reason? Certainly a welded steel rectangular container can accommodate the pressure of a propane tank. Before I contact the DOT for a special permit I need some heads up. Can someone help enlighten me please?

    Thank you
