Are lightsabers possible? View All
Hi, does anybody think that a lightsaber such as in the Star Wars films is possible? Of course I don't mean one working in the same way as detailed, but theoretically does anyone have any ideas about how one would work?

As I understand it the simple answer is NO.

Light does not work that way.

1. There is not way to make it terminate as specific length
2. It can not act a solid

Thanks, I guess that is what would happen if you use a laser or light wave. And the problem of restricting the shape of the blade would be present with something else like plasma.
